How “Insomnia” Continues the Story of “Lo Tenías Callao”

Some stories end with heartbreak.

Others begin there.

When we released “Lo Tenías Callao,” we told the story of betrayal, suspicion, and the moment someone discovers a truth they were never supposed to find. At its core, the song was about deception, but it was also about the emotional damage that comes after trust is broken.

As the song continued to grow and connect with listeners, we found ourselves thinking about what happens next.

What happens after the confrontation?

What happens after the anger?

What happens when the phone stops ringing, the arguments stop, and you're left alone with your thoughts?

That question became the foundation for “Insomnia.”

Interestingly, both “Lo Tenías Callao” and “Insomnia” were written during the same songwriting camp.

At the time, we didn't necessarily know the songs would eventually become connected, but looking back now, it's easy to hear how they belong to the same emotional world.

The connection didn't stop there.

Both music videos were also filmed during the same weekend in Brooklyn, New York. Even visually, we wanted the records to feel like different chapters of the same story.

Sonically, however, the songs take slightly different paths.

While “Lo Tenías Callao” leans more heavily into bachata from a production standpoint, “Insomnia” naturally drifts closer to our R&B influences. The melodies, atmosphere, and overall mood of the record allowed us to explore another side of the “Rhythm & Bachata” sound we've been developing since 2023.

In many ways, the two songs complement each other.

One is the confrontation.

The other is what happens when you're finally left alone with the memories.

In many ways, we see “Insomnia” as a continuation of the emotional journey that began in “Lo Tenías Callao.” The characters may be different. The circumstances may change. But the feeling remains the same.

Loss has a way of following people long after the relationship is over.

The lyrics of “Insomnia” explore that feeling. The memories you cannot escape. The unanswered questions. The moments when sleep should come easily, but doesn't.

Lines like:

“Desde que te fuiste, insomnia”

capture that feeling immediately.

Sometimes the hardest part of heartbreak isn't the breakup itself. It's the silence afterward.

Musically, we also wanted the record to feel like a natural continuation of that world. The song carries many of the same emotional elements that have become part of our “Rhythm & Bachata” sound — R&B melodies, vulnerability, atmosphere, and storytelling wrapped inside bachata rhythm.

While “Lo Tenías Callao” was built around discovery and confrontation, “Insomnia” lives in reflection.

It's the moment after the storm.

When it came time to bring the song to life visually, we returned to New York City.

Like “Lo Tenías Callao,” the video for “Insomnia” was filmed in Brooklyn. There is something about New York that complements these stories. The city feels alive, but at the same time it can make loneliness feel even bigger. That contrast fit the emotion of the song perfectly.

For us, music has always been about telling stories people can see themselves in.

Sometimes those stories happen in a single song.

Other times they unfold across multiple chapters.

“Insomnia” is the next chapter.

And for anyone who connected with “Lo Tenías Callao,” we hope you'll find a piece of your own story in this one too.
